The Team

The Accounting team ensures all money movements can be accounted for and ensures LendingHome can generate valuable insights from financial reports. We partner with all areas of the business to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.

The Role

LendingHome is looking for a SOX Manager to design and implement internal controls over financial reporting. The ideal SOX Manager candidate possesses fin-tech experience, with a focus on end-to-end SOX Compliance. The SOX Manager candidate must have a strong understanding of technical accounting and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) methodologies (controls design, risk assessment, testing strategies, etc.) The SOX Manager candidate also must demonstrate knowledge of process flow mapping, design and documentation of controls, controls testing, evaluation of control deficiencies and remediation plans.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and perform SOX and Internal Audit programs testing, and ensure testing results are appropriately documented and communicated, including detail review of the execution of SOX procedures
  • Effectively plan, implement, and execute all phases of SOX compliance, and to include leading walkthroughs, identifying and validating key controls, developing test procedures, executing and documenting testing, and reporting results to the management, internal and external auditors
  • Update and design documentation including process flowcharts, process narratives, risk and controls matrix, and evaluate controls as new systems are developed and/or process changes
  • Ensure clear, concise, actionable and practical observations and recommendations, with a well-documented process for communication and clearance
  • Partners with the business to design and execute resolution plans for testing discrepancies
  • Prepare and review the annual SOX scoping and risk management assessment, including annual fraud risk assessment 
  • Research and communicate best practices, identify areas for improvement and provide effective recommendations and sound audit conclusions 
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors as well as other key stakeholders on the annual SOX testing plan regarding ongoing testing of controls, and provide support to ensure timely and smooth completion of SOX projects

Qualifications

  • A BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
  • An appropriate certification in accounting and/or auditing is highly preferred, including a CPA, CA, CIA, CISA
  • Proven experience in the execution of an end-to-end SOX program as well as planning and performing technology SOX controls and internal audits in tech and cloud-based industries
  • A minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in a senior SOX 404 and/or internal audit role, with strong technology/IT background to support automation and drive efficiencies in SOX and Internal Audit operations, and/or with Big 4 public accounting firms, are highly preferred
  • Prefer candidates with exposure to a high growth and rapidly changing technology start-ups; experienced in performing operational internal audits, SOX risk assessments, financial and IT controls design assessments and testing
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, COSO, PCAOB Auditing Standards, Sarbanes-Oxley, risk and controls standards and business process best practices
  • Experience with data interpretation and data driven audit/analytics approach with experience in SQL
  • Exceptional skills in using Excel and Visio; experience in using Google docs and Tableau strongly preferred
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment 
  • Strong understanding of risks and controls from both compliance and process enhancement perspectives
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and presentation skills
