As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer in our Security Engineering team, you will be at the heart of Tally’s engineering processes developing and implementing solutions to improve cloud security.
Security Engineering owns and is responsible for tools that bake security into our applications and cloud environments. You will use Site Reliability Engineering skills to not only fix problems but solve the issues that contribute to them. Tech you might use: Security automation such as Nmap and Kali toolset, scripting languages like Bash and Python, vulnerability detection and management tooling, SIEM, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Kubernetes, Datadog, Terraform, CI/CD systems (GitLab), and more.
A Day In the Life:
Conduct risk and threat assessments to identify risks and any associated weaknesses, as well as make recommendations on how to mitigate those risks.
Design, build, and deploy security controls and associated tooling with an emphasis on automation and integration into CI/CD pipelines.
Implement and utilize AWS security features as part of a well architected framework.
Automate manual tasks and improve team workflows.
Make security metrics and solutions easily consumable for development teams.
Teach, coach, and advocate security principles across the Engineering team.
Assist in code reviews and security assessments across the organization.
Collaborate with other engineering teams to enhance event monitoring, security alerting, and incident response workflows.
Recommend and implement technical, process, and policy changes.
Investigate and solve the contributing causes to security incidents.
Participate in on-call rotation.
Participate in daily scrum standups, sprint planning, and other team rituals including retrospectives.
Background working in security engineering organizations, protecting AWS or Kubernetes environments.
Automation, using CI/CD systems and tools to automate security task work is one of your core values.
Comfortable writing in bash and at least one more scripting language such as python.
Broad familiarity with security operations topics that affect infrastructure, including identity and access, network, vulnerability, and change management.
Ideally you’ll have experience with encryption and key management systems.
You understand networking fundamentals, and how those fundamentals translate into an AWS hosted cloud environment.
You’re a great communicator, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Passionate about learning and constantly challenging yourself for continuous improvement.
You have experience identifying, assessing and remediating security vulnerabilities.
Proficient in at least one of the following domains: automation and cloud infrastructure, security testing and assessments, security ops, network/ app/ cloud security, threat hunting and logging or monitoring.
