Millions of Americans have a right to financial programs like Medicaid, SNAP, and utility assistance. These programs offer significant material relief—and dramatically improved health outcomes—for the people who receive them. But enrolling in them is confusing and challenging, with complicated applications and arcane lists of required documents. That’s where Uno comes in.

About the Role

We are looking for a people & onboarding associate to onboard and train our growing team. You will initially redesign and improve our existing onboarding process and support on Uno’s employee experience & engagement people operations projects. 


Your first 3 months look like…

You are becoming an expert in Uno, our team, and our current onboarding process. You will:

  • Support the new hire onboarding process, including communications, background checks, and I-9 verifications while continually looking for opportunities to streamline and automate. 
  • Ensure SOC and other regulatory compliance standards are met, and improve visibility around these requirements during onboarding.
  • Identify gaps in our current onboarding process and implement process improvements in collaboration with our trainers, operations managers, and leadership team.
  • Continue to iterate on how to deliver the most effective and engaging onboarding program across all rolls as we scale.
  • Maintain internal documentation (SOP’s,  and support material used in onboarding programs and sessions).
  • Take on and support employee experience projects that increase engagement, development and will play a role in creating a warm and delightful experience for our employees.

You will continue to improve, maintain and update our training program as we scale:

  • Assess track and analyze the impact of orientation programs leveraging week 1, 30 & 90 day onboarding engagement surveys. Share insights, and develop recommendations for continuous improvement of solutions.
  • Take on employee engagement initiatives such as engagement surveys, lunch & learn programs, mentorship/buddy process design, and overseeing our internship program
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of branded material to new hires (with product, design and operations)
  • Assist with processing employee data changes and ensuring data in our various HR systems are accurate across various HR systems.
  • Ensure our employees' experience at Uno is the best it can be!


This role requires

  • 2-3+ years of experience in onboarding, people ops, HR, recruiting coordination, process improvement
  • Ability to hit the ground running and dig into our existing processes
  • High emotional and social intelligence with experience fostering positive, strong relationships with diverse groups of people
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Training/Operations/Tech & Talent
  • Willingness to travel to to NYC for large onboarding classes & people operations events
  • Great communication skills [both verbal and written]
