Job Description
About Us
At Novi Connect, our mission is to power the future of consumer product development for healthier people and the planet.
We’re building the platform that combats greenwashing and allows customers to shop with confidence by properly vetting clean and sustainability claims at the ingredient, product, packaging and brand level.
The opportunity for more transparent and sustainable products is vast – $1.5T market in consumer product development – and while we started in the beauty and personal care category, we’re growing to serve a broader set of markets, including food, household cleaning, and more.
Novi is well funded by top-tier venture capital investors, and has seen rapid growth and traction. If you’re interested in building the future of the clean and sustainable products industry, we’d love to hear from you.
What We're Looking For
Today, Novi works with hundreds of the fastest-growing beauty and personal care brands, major retailers, and top global CPGs. The industry we're tackling is fragmented and complex, and the value we can bring is enormous.
A key factor for Novi to realize that potential will be how effectively we position our brand and offering in the market, communicate the value we can deliver for each member of our network (brands, formulators, suppliers, and manufacturers), and engage and guide our users to get more value out of Novi.
That’s why we’re looking for a creative, strategic, and deeply empathetic Regulatory Affairs Specialist who can help us achieve those goals. In this role, you will be reporting to the Head of Chemistry & Sustainability and will be responsible for
- Expanding Novi’s global regulatory policies through continuous research on international markets, including regulatory standards, product classification, labeling, and registration requirements.
- Monitoring and staying up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Leveraging chemical hazard assessments (CHA) to identify safe, functional alternatives to potentially toxic or undesirable ingredients, using comprehensive health and environmental data and green chemistry principles
- Maintaining Novi's hazard lists and policies, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Collaborating with Marketing and Community teams to develop educational content and maintain data integrity within Novi's vetting engine.
- Interpreting and communicating regulatory requirements to internal teams, providing guidance and support as needed.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. Regulatory Affairs, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline). Advanced degree preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in regulatory affairs or a related field, preferably in the beauty and personal care or food industry
- Strong knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines (e.g., FDA, EPA, ISO, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of chemicals used in the CPG industry and ability to conduct chemical structural analysis when needed.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Comfort in working with and developing new technology
- Comfort rolling up your sleeves in a high-growth environment with a sense of ownership, influence, and self-accountability
